what if chess, but pieces weren't confined to only 64 squares? what if pieces were free? what if... real-valued chess?

This whole idea is inspired by The Adder. I wanted to make it possible to actually play the chess variant he suggested, so here you go.

Controls

  • Click or drag a piece, then click where it should go
  • Shift: snap to square centres
  • A: show every point the enemy attacks
  • Mouse wheel: scroll the move list
  • Ctrl+Z: undo  ·  Ctrl+N: new game
  • Right-click / Esc: deselect
  • Q / R / B / N: choose a piece when a pawn promotes

Two players, one screen. Checkmate when the opponent has no legal move left.

Credits

The idea, the rules and the art all come from The Adder's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jiQFW023ws. Go watch it!
